PURE SATURDAY

PURE SATURDAY

Pure Saturday, Indonesian indie darlings. Formed by Muhammad Suar Nasution (vocals, guitar), Ade Purnama (bass), Aditya "Adhi" Ardinugraha (guitar), Yudistira "Udhi" Ardinugraha (drums) and Arief Hamdani (guitar) in 1994, they were pioneers of the Bandung indie scene. Their self-titled debut album was released in 1996, the first 5000 copies of which were sold innovatively via mail-order through a teen magazine. The album was then available on wide distribution after the band signed with Ceepee Records. The single "Kosong" made them household names, with the artistic accompanying video gaining heavy rotation.

Their more complex and challenging second album, Utopia, was released in 1999 through Aquarius Musikindo. Because of family and business reasons, Pure Saturday was mostly inactive for several years, culminating in Suar's departure in 2004. After unsuccessful auditions to find a suitable replacement vocalist, fate intervened one day when Satria "Iyo" NB, the band's manager, filled in during rehearsals. The guy they were looking for was there all along!

With their new lead singer in tow, Pure Saturday released its long-awaited third album, Elora, in March 2005 through FastForward Records.

This made it official: Pure Saturday was reborn and ready to rock again!!.

FROU FROU ....

What's the deal with Frou Frou in 2006?

Since the end of their promotional duties for debut album 'Details' in 2003, both members of Frou Frou (Imogen Heap and Guy Sigsworth) have been working on individual projects. At the moment Imogen and Guy do not have any plans to make another Frou Frou album, however neither has ruled this out and they are both very active with their current projects, read on to find out more...

Like so many others you may have discovered Frou Frou through the movie Garden State? Or maybe you found Frou Frou early-on when debut album 'Details' was released and they toured the U.S. in 2002/3? Either way, you discovered the band and loved the album? Well, here's how the story goes.....

Both members of Frou Frou (Imogen Heap and Guy Sigsworth) have been working on individual projects since 2004. Meanwhile their previous collaboration Frou Frou gained more and more acclaim. This new found success was largely due to the song 'Let Go' being included on the Grammy Award winning 'Garden State' soundtrack. Ironically, over a year after the promotional period for the band's debut album 'Details' ended, and band members began to work on individual projects, Frou Frou became more popular than ever! It was almost as if everyone got in on the secret just a little too late. The good news is that both Imogen and Guy are both working on new projects.

Imogen Heap released her brand new solo album 'Speak For Yourself' in the USA on Novermber 1st 2005 via RCA Victor. The album, (which is also out in her native UK) includes the digital hit single 'Hide & Seek' which you may have already heard on TV show 'The OC'! To find out more about 'Speak For Yourself' and Immi's upcoming tour dates, please visit www.imogenheap.com.

Guy Sigsworth, the male-axis of Frou Frou continues to write and produce songs for some of todays biggest names in music, as well as working with upcoming musicians. Check out WikiPedia for more info on Guy's work - his official website will be launched in the coming months!

Frou Frou Official Biog - Circa 2002

"Music can be like perfume," suggests a Frou Frou. "It's almost a scent, you know, where the right smell changes an environment and makes life more bearable." If the challenge for a pair of skilled musical parfumiers is to connect up all five senses and create a sixth realm of heightened emotion, rediscovered memory and awakened dreaming, the debut album by Frou Frou is an olfactory breakthrough. A couple of lifetimes in the preparing, 'Details' is as hyper-evocative a record as the post-digital era has yet produced. Out of a technique that erases its own ingenuity, singer-songwriter Imogen Heap and songwriter-producer and part time Francophile, Guy Sigsworth, have summoned up a supersensual song-world of whispered intimacy, firefly dances, sky-kissing elation, opiated warmth, pillows, bliss, fingertips, half-light, swirls, curlicues, closeness, interpersonal dissonance and captured stillness. Oh yes, and the swishing of erotically charged silk. "In the Folies Bergeres when the women were dancing 'frou frou' was meant to be the sound of the swishing skirt," explains Guy. "There's meant to be a poem of Baudelaire's where he'd taken opium and was tripping out on the skirts swishing and getting delirious, and there's this old French song called Frou Frou which is the sound that drives men mad. And I suppose when I was getting this together with Imogen, not just because she's a girl, but I was conscious of there being a kind of femininity to things. The delirious guy looking at the women is probably like I am, listening to them singing down the microphone." There's too much gilt and bombast in Heaven to imagine that the creative marriage between producer-songwriter Guy Sigsworth and former solo-chanteuse Imogen Heap was made celestially. More likely their pre-nuptials took place in a magic balloon drifting high over the the pitted landscape of contemporary digitally derived music. Since working with Seal at the start of his career, Guy has gone on to prove himself a, if not the supreme producer of female vocals, collaborating extensively with Bjork and attracting Madonna's attention. Imogen's debut solo album, made when she was still a teenager, clearly demonstrated that here was a singer of astonishing emotional eloquence. Frou Frou is therefore an ideal dovetailing of voice and vision. The pair first collaborated when Guy produced 'Getting Scared' from Imogen's 98 album 'I Megaphone'. As a passionate fan of great singers Guy had sought out the owner of the precocious voice he'd heard on a demo tape. Working together on a longform project then became a matter of obligation to the world of ravishing, high pop. "I think we'd always known that we'd do an album together but it took a while to get there," recalls Imogen. "Every month or so Guy would phone me up and say 'I've got a new song, would you come in and sing it?' and then before we knew it we'd already started the album." "I guess I'd been a hired gun on other people's records to come in and do funny noises," explains Guy. "And often I'd come in and listen back later and think 'Why does this all sound like shit?’. I kind of realised that the key is the vocal, because if, in the back of my mind, I didn't like the vocal, I'd just be using these silly noises to hide it or draw attention away. So working with Imogen just made sense because she's such a fantastic singer. And I'm such a snob about voices. I don't mean they have to be technically perfect, but when someone has a voice like Imogen you can just run with it wherever your fantasy takes you. When I was working with Bjork once, we did a show on the White Room and amazingly Liz Frazer from the Cocteau Twins had sneaked in to watch Bjork, and Sinead O'Connor was on with the Pogues. There was this one Kodak moment where there was Sinead, Bjork and Liz talking to each other, and that was my three favourite singers on earth, all in a ring for a moment. But then I found someone who I love even more. I think Imogen's got so much to show people about vocals." 'Details' does not scream at you. It talks to you intimately, in real language, with a sonic articulacy unparalleled in recent times. Neither electronic or trad organic, it invents its own sound language without being self consciously radical. Naturally it didn't come together overnight after a binge and a game of soccer with the effects rack. The Frou Frou sessions spanned several seasons at the turn of the century, Guy working on the big picture upstairs in his west London studio, and Imogen downstairs, in a room full of cellos, auto harps, guitars, mad keyboards, Indian drums, toys, books and a mirror to dance in. With the exception of the (gorgeous) trumpet solo on 'Dumbing Down Of Love', played by occasional Eno collaborator John Hassell, and a purl of orchestration from Bombay, the sounds woven into 'Details' were mostly generated by Imogen and Guy, feeding keyboards, guitars and briefly handbells into the computer. The passages where it appears there's an orchestra under the duvet came from the multi-tracking of a single violin and lone Swedish double bassist Mitch Gerber. An album which embraces technology whilst humanising it, 'Details' leads the listener into a tender and lovely headspace through Imogen's voice. Much of the instrumentation was put in around an intial, early take vocal. Guy and Imogen co-wrote many of the lyrics, refusing to put in implausible lines and seeking to create a conversational truthfulness within the songs Textures, tones and moods shift through the record. Let Go' achieves a state of scintillant equanimity; 'Breathe In' is as carefree as completion; 'I Must Be Dreaming' soars above self doubt; 'Psychobabble' teeters on the edge; 'Only Got One' reassures; 'Details' cruises towards self-knowledge; 'Hear Me Out' holds on to a connection; 'Flicks' celebrates; 'Dumbing Down Of Love' curls inwards, unfurling perhaps one of the key lines of the album: 'Music is worthless unless it can make a complete stranger breakdown and cry' The desire to reach out and touch without using the obvious attention grabbing techniques is rooted in Imogen and Guy's past. In solo guise Imogen carried her keyboard though five American tours. Guy worked as musical director for Bjork's live shows. Neither would have been content to settle for anything less than graphic enchantment. "When music really gets you, you hear it on the radio and it possesses you and you just have to track it down, and you know you're not going to be happy until you've got it," says Guy. "And there must be something really magical to make you like that, it’s not like needing a new pair or trainers, its something much more intense. For me music is totally like that and it wouldn't be worth doing if it wasn't." "I think we knew what we didn't want to achieve," adds Imogen. "We didn't want to go rock, we didn't want to go angry, we wanted to make this a feelgood album and we wanted it to be real. I've done 'angry' when I was 18 and I want to be happy now. I want to sing happy songs!" If 'Details' get caught up in the rapture, that’s not because Guy and Imogen are unaware of the shadier end of the musical spectrum. The subtleties and clarities within Frou Frou are the result of deep experience and constant exploration. Imogen's accelerated journey from South London college to signed up solo artist threw her into the middle of the musical bazaar before prejudices could set in. In between her solo album and Frou Frou she recorded with London jazz rap ensemble Urban Species. Still only 21 she's now as likely to be listening to the Aphex Twin as seeking out Finnish composers. Guy's initial co-writing work with Seal came about because the singer was then living in a neighbouring London squat. From there he came across a series of like-minded artists, hooking up with Tim 'Bomb The Bass' Simonon, Talvin Singh and Bjork. It was not, however, his co-writing work with Bjork that attracted Madonna's attention, but his production of the debut album by the under-rated Mandalay. The Mandalay album failed to go overground but Madonna loved it and called in Guy, leading to his co-writing 'What It Feels Like For A Girl' on 'Music'. If there are facets of Frou Frou which appear to owe as much to fringe music as to pop, it should come as no surprise. Guy's vast enthusiasm makes him one of the most widely analytical of current artist producers. It would not be unusual to find that in an hour of weighing up Frou Frou's place in the schene of things, he has also digressed into the guitar layering of My Bloody Valentine, the influence of UK ragga on two step, the connection between Kraftwerk and Africa Bambaata, the interface of Euro angst and disco, 2 Unlimited's debt to the cancan, ring tones on rap records and the brilliance of David Sylvian's 'Ghosts'. "As a musician, you love lots of things and then you gradually work out, OK yes I love nu- metal, gangsta rap and classical music but then you start thinking 'What is it I can do that other people don't do? Cause I love ragga music but I wouldn't try and do it. So you think 'What is it I can do and as a producer, what can bring to the table? "I just hope we can open people's horizons. Because I think some people are very innovative with soundscapes, but they don't write songs, and I think the song is still very important to me. I still think that form is great even if the sounds are a bit unusual. I think its a classical way to express what you're feeling. "I'm not claiming that 'Details' is the most innovative record ever made but I think there's confrontational things like, 'Let's be Einstuzende Neubaten and do this, and everyone'll know that we're really doing something different', and then there are people that can seduce you and put on a really lovely face and you don't realise that behind it they're actually doing something quite different. I'd like to think we're trying the friendly, seductive route to opening people's ears." It would perhaps be too much of a grand claim to suggest that Frou Frou is a uniquely pure musical phenomenon, but certainly the two of them are less likely than most to be guided by ego and self -promotion. Imogen was doing very nicely by herself and was initially wary of sharing the creative reins. Guy had endless producer/co-writer doors open and is decidedly camera shy. Yet they couldn't resist what Imogen describes as "a beautiful meeting of minds", and they wanted it to be presented right. To that end, there will be great visuals and lap top proud live band selected on the basis of the originality of the musicians. It's going to be something that Baudelaire would have loved, with or without the opium, and that lovers of greatly intoxicating music will be driven to describe as, of course, an amour fou. "For me atmosphere and fantasy in music are really important," says Guy. "I think I'm an escapist really, even though I like dark things in music, and I think there are moments of darkness in this, but I like darkness when its fantastical and Scary Movie-ish rather than just bleak and gritty. I suppose that if music didn't give us this glimpse of something better I don't think we could stand to go on with our lives, we'd just give up. I think in any type of music, not just mine, the best of it gives you a glimpse of paradise, or a better world or some hope. Its like you can achieve some sort of... I don't know if I'd say perfection but something free from all the shit of your life, in music." Frou Frou: a sound that drives you happy.

THE Locust .........?

Innovative, controversial, and frighteningly loud, the Southern California rock band the Locust has been called the future of hardcore punk by more than a few people. Critics and underground hardcore fans alike have argued for and against the band, citing in their debates the destructive tendencies of the Locust's intensely loyal fan base, insane stage antics, seemingly nonsensical lyrics, and questionable taste in merchandise. Through it all, the Locust has maintained a confident distance, preferring to discuss the "self-political" subject matter of their lyrics and lifestyle, and more importantly, their love of playing music. Formed in San Diego in 1995, with a nascent lineup consisting of former members of influential hardcore bands Struggle and Swing Kids, the Locust built an early reputation on name-recognition and duration (their songs rarely exceeded 60 seconds) alone. When their first few singles were actually released, however, feverish hardcore fans responded by buying out the entire first pressings ridiculously fast; the group had proven themselves worthy of the attention, and began selling out shows in and around Southern California. During those first few years, the personnel of the band remained in constant flux. With the only certainty being a revolving cast, the Locust set out on tours of the U.S. and Europe before the lineup was solidified, and work on their debut full-length LP began. When the album was finished, the band had recorded 20 songs and crammed them into a claustrophobic 13 minutes. The initial pressing of The Locust, 2000 12" records, sold out in the first week of its release, and the May 1999 3" CD reissue was also very well received; the album sold more than 20,000 copies -- platinum status by independent label standards. Following up on their underground success, the Locust unexpectedly released a double LP of drum'n'bass remixes of their trademark song, "Well I'll Be a Monkey's Uncle," in the spring of 2000. Featuring mixes from Digital Hardcore mainstay Christoph de Babalon and San Francisco's I Am Spoonbender, the record demonstrated the Locust's willingness to toy with the public's perception of the band as a one-trick pony, and also served to bring their music to the attention of an entirely new audience. After the release of the 2001 EP Flight of the Wounded Locust, band member David Astor left the group. While adapting to their new, leaner formation as a quartet, the Locust kept up a masochistic tour schedule, making the rounds in Japan (filling the opening slot for Grand Royal buzz-band At the Drive-In) and the U.S., and gigging at South by Southwest. They appeared for the first time on wax as a quartet with a split 7" on GSL that also featured like-minded noise children Melt Banana. The band then received a significant credibility boost when it signed a worldwide contract with Anti, the respected Epitaph that also featured such types as Tom Waits, Merle Haggard, and Nick Cave. Plague Soundscapes, The Locust's debut for the label, dropped in June 2003. ~ Bryan Carroll, All Music Guide.

FUCK THE FACTS....

Band Members : Topon, Mel, Vil, Steve

"Ottawa's grind/metal powerhouse Fuck the Facts impacts with the subtlety of an atom bomb on their Relapse debut Stigmata High-Five. The quartet's high-powered assault is all-encompassing: from oppressively heavy, metallic riffing to savage grindings and spasmodic changes alike. Each of the Stigmata High-Five tracks burns with a merciless, unrestrained ferocity. No matter the moment, Fuck the Facts' purpose is to inflict maximum aural damage and the result is total devastation." - taken from Relapse.com

SUDAH

Salahkah aku mencintai mu
Memiliki mu menyayangi mu
Jangan paksakan kita untuk selalu bersama
Jangan paksaan kita untuk selalu mencinta

Reff. Bila kita harus berpisah sudah
Biarkan ini semua berakhir sudah 2x
Cinta memang tak harus miliki

Jangan paksakan kita untuk selalu bersama
Jangan paksaan kita untuk selalu mencinta

Bila kita harus berpisah sudah
Biarkan ini semua berakhir sudah 4x
Cinta memang tak harus miliki

HAPUS AKU

Tuliskan kesedihan
Semua tak bisa kau ungkapkan
Dan kita kan bicara dengar hatiku

Buang semua puisi
Antara kita berdua
Kau bunuh dia sesuatu
Yang kusebut itu cinta

Reff. Yakinkan aku Tuhan
Dia bukan milikku
Biarkan waktu, waktu, hapus aku
Sadarkan aku Tuhan dia bukan milikku
Biarkan waktu, waktu, hapus aku

Tuliskan kesedihan
Semua tak bisa kau hentikan
Dan kita kan bicara dengar jiwaku

Buang semua puisi
Antara kita berdua
Kau bunuh dia sesuatu
Yang kusebut itu cinta

Bila Aku Jatuh Cinta

Bila aku jatuh cinta
Aku mendengar nyanyian
Seribu dewa dewi cinta menggema dunia

Bila aku jatuh cinta
Aku melihat matahari
Kan datang pada ku dan memelukku dengan sayang

Bila aku jatuh cinta
Aku melihat sang bulan
Kan datang padaku dan menemani aku

Melewati dinginnya mimpi
Melewati dinginnya mimpi

Bila aku jatuh cinta..
Jatuh cinta..
Bersama dirimu...
Peluk aku...
Ciumlah aku..
Sayang.... Sayang....

Melewati dinginnya mimpi
Melewati dinginnya mimpi

Bila aku jatuh cinta..

HEAVEN

Don't beg
Don't cry to your children
Don't even cry
To your papa

Don't try
To beg to your people
Don't even cry
To your mama

Reff : 'Cause Heaven is too far
Away tonight
Heaven is too far
Away.. tonight

Don't laugh
Don't scream to your children
Don't even cry to your sister..

Don't talk
Don't play with the children
'Cause you ain't gonna get my heart

MANUSIA SEMPURNA

Dia kulihat dia

Dia menutup mata
Dia terus berjalan
Dia tak hiraukan

Wanita sempurna untukku
Lara hati menunggu dia

Dia adalah malam
Aku dan dia

CHILD

I am one I am child
I'm the saint who marches in love
I'm the pain
Electric pain
Bolt of thunder in the rain

I'm the blood
I'm the key
You are evergreen
Who blessed in union

Let them born into this world
Let them sing into the sky

Reff: I will be fading.. i will be fading..
And i will be fading
As your child ... as your child..

Don't let go
Don't be frightened
Don't be scared and don't be late

I am one
I am child
I'm the saint
Who marches in love

Disco Lazy Time

Wake me up tonight
Drive me to the town
Sleep with me tonight
She's my lonely wine

Nothing is forever
Nothing is for real
Do you have to leave me
Why dont you just kill me

If time is the loneliest people
Then life is the loneliest time

Reff. This is disco laziest time
I want you i need you
This is disco laziest time
I want you i need you
Techno baby come around
I want you i need you
This is disco loneliest time

ENGKAU

Ku bukan seorang pembohong
Ku wanita biasa
Ku tak maksud menyakitimu
Kau yang menunggu lama

Maaf maafkanlah aku
Ku tak maksud menghentikan langkahmu
Untuk masuk ke hidupku
Jangan engkau lupa masa-masa indah kita berdua

Reff. . Nyanyilah di tengah dinginnya air mata..

Kubukan seorang pembohong
Ku wanita biasa
Bangunlah jangan kau takaut
Cintamu di hujung pelangi

Maaf maafkanlah aku
Ku tak maksud menghentikan langkahmu
Untuk masuk ke hidupku
Jangan engkau lupa masa-masa indah kita berdua

Back to Reff. (4x)

Jadi inilah selamat tinggal
Jadi pergilah engkau

KAU DAN AKU

Jika kau dan aku
Jalannya telah berbeda
Haruskah kita berharap
Langit kan beri jawaban
Walau hanya satu kata
Penuh makna
Pastikan kita bisa
Dengarkan suara hati

Reff: Kau dan aku selalu
Untuk selamanya
Kau dan aku selalu
Untuk bersama (2x)

Kau dan aku selalu
Untuk selamanya
Kau dan aku selalu
Untuk selamanya

Cinta kita sama
Walau rintangan melintas
Satukan harapan
Demi kau dan aku di masa depan

Kau dan aku selalu
Untuk selamanya
Kau dan aku selalu
Untuk bersama

DEFTONES...

Deftones is a Grammy award-winning nu metal, alternative rock band from Sacramento, California. Personnel are Chino Moreno (vocals, guitar), Stephen Carpenter (guitar), Abe Cunningham (drums), Chi Cheng (bass) and turntablist/keyboardist/sampler player Frank Delgado. (Incidentally, Carpenter is generally credited with "strings", although he actually only plays guitar.)
Deftones have often been praised as one of the more innovative and unique rock bands of recent years. Johnny Loftus writes, "Rock critics usually reserve a special place for Deftones above or at least away from the rest of the turn-of-the-century nu-metal movement. While they definitely share the influence of a group like Tool with peers like Korn, Deftones have always seemed more curious, more willing to incorporate traditionally revered sounds like dream pop or D.C. hardcore into their Northern California nu metal." Moreno's poetic lyrics—described by a Time magazine critic as "furiously intelligent"—are often evocative, yet are sparse enough to allow for multiple interpretations. Moreno has cited Morrissey, Weezer's Rivers Cuomo, The Cure's Robert Smith, and Depeche Mode's David Gahan among his favorite singers, and, beyond an occasional similarity in vocal technique, these singers' sweeping sense of drama and delicate vulnerability is often evident in Moreno's vocals.

Early career
The founding members of the band met while skateboarding, and their first rehearsals together took place in 1989-1990 while they were in high school; among their early songs was a cover of Danzig's "Twist Of Cain". Cheng joined after their original bassist left.
When he was younger, Carpenter was struck by a drunk driver and was confined to a wheelchair. This tragedy became a benefit when Carpenter received a large insurance settlement, and was able to buy some expensive, high-quality equipment for the band.
Deftones enjoyed the early sponsorship of local favorites KoЯn, with whom they shared a fan community drawn largely from skateboarders.

Adrenaline

Adrenaline album cover (1995)
They signed to Madonna's Maverick Records in 1994 and released their debut album, Adrenaline, the following year. The album sold well, and earned mostly positive reviews. "Bored" and "7 Words" were minor hits. Delgado was not yet an official member, but he performed on several songs.
One review of Adrenaline noted Cunningham's "surprisingly sophisticated drumming" and wrote that "Unlike many of their contemporaries, the Deftones are very controlled even in the midst of chaos."
About this time, Deftones stopped touring and collaborating with bands like KoЯn. This was due in part to the fact that Deftones were often lumped into the then-emerging genre sometimes dubbed nu-metal. Like many bands so categorized, Deftones disagreed with the classification. Though Deftones were only tangentially associated with nu-metal, they feared the increasingly negative use of the term and separated themselves from other such groups, both professionally and aesthetically. Their music would later evolve into a distinctive, often artsy take on heavy rock, and was often quite far removed from nu-metal.

Around the Fur

Around the Fur album cover (1997)
Around the Fur was released in 1997. The album included a collaboration with singer Max Cavalera (founder and frontman of Sepultura and Soulfly) on "Headup," a tribute to Max's late step-son Dana Wells (this song actually inspired Max to create Soulfly, a band dedicated to Dana Wells). "My Own Summer (Shove It)" and "Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)" were hits, the latter's music video earning significant play on MTV.
Delgado again appeared on several songs, and demonstrated his deft, inventive touch at a time when turntable scratching was in danger of becoming a nu metal cliché.
An acoustic remix of "Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)" was performed with a friend of the band, DJ Crook, and lead singer Jonah Matranga from Far for the Little Nicky soundtrack. [3] This mellow version with a new trip-hop-esque beat by Delgado inspired vocalist Chino Moreno to explore softer music, which eventually lead to his side project Team Sleep.
Chino commented in July of 2000 "It's one of my favorite records of all time. The time and place we were in when we made it was fluent as hell. It took two months to write it and two months to record it. You're just in this one frame of mind. No matter what you were feeling that record just captures it."
In 1999, it was certified Gold in recognition of 500,000 sales in the US. As of September 2004 it had sold 872,006 copies.

White Pony

White Pony album cover (2000)
In 2000, the band's third album, White Pony, was released. It debuted at No. 3 in the US Billboard chart with sales of 177,000 copies. It is generally considered by fans to be Deftones' most mature recording.
Of White Pony, one reviewer wrote, "Moreno is exquisitely mind-blowing, but his fear is also evident" and that "Deftones went soft, but in an impressive way, to twist around its signature punk-thrash sound." Delgado was now a full-time band member, and he added greatly to the atmospheric album. Reviews were overwhelmingly positive, noting Moreno's increasing sophistication as a lyricist and singer, and the group's experimentalism: the fragile "Teenager", for example, incorporates elements of glitch and trip hop, with programming duties carried out by friend and Team Sleep bandmate, DJ Crook, aka, "Crookone". ("Teenager" was originally a Team Sleep song.) A collaboration with singer Maynard James Keenan of Tool is present, on "Passenger".
A limited edition print of 50,000 black and red jewel case versions of White Pony were released with a bonus 13th track, "The Boy's Republic". "It’s like a little gift to our hard-core fans", admitted Carpenter. "It’s our gift to the hard-core that are going to show up the first day". Shortly after the limited edition print, the album was rereleased with the original cover art and included a new beginning track entitled "Back to School (Mini-Maggit)".
White Pony later went on to earn multi-platinum status as well as a Grammy award for Best Metal Performance for the song "Elite".
"Change (in the house of flies)" was also featured on the soundtrack of the film The Queen of the Damned released in 2002.
In interviews lyricist Chino Moreno has stated that some of the lyrics are misleadingly printed to cover up vulgarity. For example the very first line of the lyric booklet, at the beginning of track 1: "Feiticeira", it reads "Stop I'm drunk" when quite audibly Chino sings "Fuck I'm drunk". In the song "Street Carp", the lyric booklet states a line of lyric as "Now take it home and have fun with it", when what he actually sings is "Now take it home and fuck with it". Similarly, on "Change (in the house of flies)", the booklet reads "Give you the lung, blow me away", when he actually sings "Give you the gun, blow me away". This was in an effort to avoid parental advisory labels and thereby broaden the album's audience.

Deftones

Deftones album cover (2003)
Deftones, was released in 2003. It sold 167,000 copies in the first week and remained in the Billboard top 100 for nine weeks, supported by the first single, "Minerva", which received some radio and television airplay. Later, the band shot a video for their second single,"Hexagram", with fans watching the band play the song. The band made a video for the track "Bloody Cape", but it was never released for play on television. The video was only made available on the band's official website for one day.
Much of the material on the album was written by guitarist Carpenter, which accounts for the album's more traditionally heavy metal feel. Delgado plays synthesizer, keyboards or sampler rather than his previous turntables.
In reviewing Deftones Stephen Thomas Erlewine writes that "Hexagram," the album's opener, "hits hard — harder than they ever have, revealing how mushy Staind is, or how toothless Linkin Park is, even if it's a bit of a shame that Chino Moreno has resorted to guttural barking for singing."
Erlewine is slightly bothered, however, noting that "Deftones feel compelled to strengthen their metallic roots" by forsaking "the very things that make them better and more interesting than the rest — namely, their love of art rock, whether it's via the Cure or My Bloody Valentine." He closes by writing, "When they do play by the rules, they're good, but they're great when they don't follow a map."
Another review, by Rolling Stone's Greg Kot states, "Singer Chino Moreno sounds like he's conversing with a choir of voices inside his troubled skull. He's the most Dada of the new-metal screamers: sobbing, stoned and strangely sensual, when he isn't shredding his tonsils. The band brings the requisite brutality, but this album delivers chills when it creeps past the margins of modern post-Korn heavy music: the spooky spaghetti-western drones that hover like vultures over 'Death Blow,' the space-is-the-place liftoff of 'Minerva' and the ambient doomscape 'Lucky You,' which might be worth an approving smirk from the Aphex Twin."

B-Sides & Rarities

B-Sides & Rarities album cover (2005)
An odds-and-ends album entitled B-Sides & Rarities was released on October 4, 2005.

Saturday Night Wrist
The band has a new album, titled Saturday Night Wrist, in production, comfirmed for release sometime in October of 2006. Tracks that are being speculated to appear on the new album are "Beware" , "America", "Buffalo", "FM", "Pink Cell Phone", "Diamond", "Hole in the Earth", and "Combat"
Rather than work with longtime producer Terry Date, Deftones decided to record with Bob Ezrin. Cunningham says that while the group enjoyed working with Date, "At this point, we just needed to change things up ... And this is definitely a different style. Working with him (Ezrin) is just putting us fucking upside down. He's cracking the whip." The band has since chosen not to go with Ezrin's production of their work. Instead, they stated on their official webpage: "We will be spending 4-5 days in Sacramento in late January [of 2006] to record songs with Chino, and will then head straight to Seattle to record the bulk of the album with producer Aaron Sprinkle."
As of April 7th, 2006 the band is finishing recording the album with former Far guitarist Shaun Lopez as producer. Confirmed collaborations on the record include Annie Hardy from Giant Drag on the song 'Pink Cell Phone' and Serj from System of A Down on the track 'Buffalo'.
And just recently the first single off of the upcoming album has been released and can be heard on Sirius Satelitte Radio. The single is named "Beware the Water" and includes keyboards and the sampled sounds of crickets chirping.
On certain dates of the 2006 Family Values Tour, fans will be able to preorder the album.

watch out this is DAGGER STAB ....!

Dagger Stab as a band was formed in the end of 2003. It goals is as a melting pot of musical ideas from a few friends that already involved with other bands before finally they have an initiatives to form this band. The early line up of the band is Muklis a.k.a Batax (ex-Behind Sickness, ex Captain Hook, now in Forever Suck) on rhytm guitar, Rafly a.k.a Shocked (ex Boys Band, After) on lead guitar, Bagaz on Bass, RiaNN (GetOut!) on vocals/screams and Dimas a.k.a Dipaw (ex-Dirty Little Monster, Miss Universe) on drums. This formation last only for a while because for some reason Muklis quit from the band, and Fanny (ex-Prison Soul, now also in Lion of Judah) take his position on guitar. And this last member formation is what Dagger Stab is until now.
Musically Dagger Stab were influenced by bands from hardcore genre, with a bit of screamo and metal in our sounds. And it all melted down together from the different musical interest of the band's member, without wanting to be trapped in genre stereotypication. And their lyrics are mainly focusing on socio-political theme without forgetting the personal point of view of life in general that formed their awareness on what life is, that they poured in their works. And they dont stop only in words and songs, they try to do something about it as a band by donating some portion of the money they get from shows fee and records sales to an orphanage that taking care of abandon babies and an enviromental organization that they support.
Though they're still young as a band, but they have played numerous gigs in their hometown Jakarta and other cities outside the nation capitol, and shared the stage with respectable Indonesian local underground rock acts such as Seringai, Step Forward, Antiseptic, Burning Inside, StraightOut, Thinking Straight, Friends of Mine, Popcorn, 7 Deadly Sins, Superman Is Dead, For My Blood to named a few. And not only they have rock the stages with their peers from the underground, they also shared the spotlight with bands like Club Eighties, PAS band, Saint Loco, Netral and few other Indonesian well known major acts. Beside that they also have played together with bands from abroad like Cassandra,Elisebelle Tears, Muck and Free Love from Malaysia, 7 Crowns from the United Kingdom, and Vankatoen from Holland.
They dont claimed themselves as the best band and musicians on the planet by realizing that they're still learning from their mistakes and also by realising that there are a zillion other bands that sounds better compare to them, but the most important thing for them personally is theyre doing it not for pursuing fame or fortune but for the friendship that started it all in the first place; and making music that comes from their heart as a form of art without limitation and hopefully the kids also get the message and appreciate what theyre doing...
So Ready or Not, Here They Come...

SERINGAI " high octane rock ! "

Early 2002, Jakarta, Indonesia. After a year disbanding his legendary hardcore outfit for 10 years, vocalist Arian13 [Puppen, Aparatmati] and old time friends, drummer Kemod [from Bandung thrash grinders, Aparatmati] and guitarist Ricky [from Jakarta's finest hardcore band, Stepforward] founded SERINGAI ['grin' in Indonesian]. Fueled by a desire to play a blend between Motorhead, Black Sabbath, hard rock & metal influences, they began to jam together after bassist Toan joined. SERINGAI was already in the habit of constantly writing songs, and playing small gigs in Jakarta and Bandung. Anthem songs like Alkohol [Alcohol] and Membakar Jakarta [Burning Jakarta], are the crowd's favorites. SERINGAI became more popular and the shows were beer-soaked and the sing along, slamdancing, stagediving never stops. Shortly thereafter, Toan left the band, and was replaced by Sammy. The band recorded 9 songs including a cover of Black Flag's Jealous Again, and released High Octane Rock EP in 2004 in tape format on their own label, Parau. Many shows in support of the tape, and without proper promotion they have sold about 12.000 copies of High Octane Rock EP. They even got offered to write songs for local movie soundtrack, teenage flick Catatan Akhir Sekolah and horror flick 12:00 AM. Their fanbase grows bigger, and named themselves 'serigala seringai' or, Seringai's wolfpack. In 2005, the CD version is released. Fortunately, the CD version was highly anticipated, and with different and exclusive artwork, it has sold 2000 copies in just 2 month. This time, the CD was distributed by Off The Records/Universal Music Indonesia. SERINGAI now is gearing up for their debut full length that is going to be released in 2006. STEPFORWARD decibel mayhem...!!!

10 years and still kicking! First formed in 1995, makes STEPFORWARD one of the longest running hardcore band that ever come out of the city of Jakarta INDONESIA. They’ve been through several changes in their line up, the most recent line up is Jill (Vocals), Chainsawrick (Guitar), Junas (Bass), and Jar (Drums). STEPFORWARD released their debut album titled “Stories of Undying Hope” in the year 2001. Their metal influenced hardcore style has won a lot of hearts during the years of playing live. The stage performance also simply energetic and tight, not to mention the brutal female vocal by Jill is captivating as some say. At the moment STEPFORWARD is in the process of releasing their sophomore album. “The new upcoming album is going to be heavier and more aggresive, yet melodic at the same time” said Chainsawrick the guitarist who also plays in the band SERINGAI. The musical influence on our new material varies from a wide choice of musical genre. “From Smashing Pumpkins to Slayer, from My Bloody Valentine to Old Metallica” Ricky added. The songs’ breakdowns are going to be more significant, and the vocal is also going to be more “growl oriented” compared to the more “punk” style vocal on their first album. The song you hear on the MP3 player right now is titled “Saksi Imaji” and going to be the first single from the new album. The next album is going to be released by PARAU their collectively owned music label who also has released successful other Indonesian independent acts such as SERINGAI, DOMESTIK DOKTRIN, and releases by hardcore group SPAZZ and LOS CRUDOS. “The year 2004 ended in sadness for Indonesia and the world,we hope 2005 is going to be better for everybody” said Jill.

Pinup Star and Burlesque Performer ...here's Dita Von Tesse !

Born in a small town in Michigan and raised in a historic antique-filled home, Dita Von Teese's longtime fascination with 1940s cinema and classic retro style has made her name and image synonymous with classic vintage glamour.
As a very young girl, Dita became enchanted by the films and stars of Hollywood's Golden Age and spent her childhood dreaming of the high pastiche elegance of 1940s glamour and it's stars like Hedy Lamarr, Rita Hayworth and Betty Grable. It's no wonder that her childhood fondness for the beauty of yesteryear led her to be revered as not only the most celebrated vintage pinup model and burlesque star, but as one of Hollywood's most glamorous women.
At age twelve, she moved out west from Michigan to Orange County, California with her parents and two sisters. Her teen years were spent continuing the classical ballet training she has studied since the age of four, and at age thirteen, she danced as a soloist with a local ballet company. She idolized Cyd Charisse, a well known film star during the 1950s who was famous for using her classical ballet training for risqué dance numbers, epitomizing the classic femme fatale...an image Dita longed to grow up to be. For Dita, the appeal of mid nineteenth century glamour carried on into her adulthood, and she began collecting vintage clothes from the 1920s through the 1950s and learned about the details of dressing vintage from head to toe. She soon discovered that not only were women impeccably dressed, but that the underpinnings of the era were divine! In fact, her interest in elegant lingerie led her to pursue her first job at age 15 at a luxury lingerie boutique where she went on to become not only an excellent salesperson, but the shop's buyer of high end lingerie.(Not to mention collector!)
In college, she studied historic costuming and had aspirations to work as a stylist for period films, but eventually found a niche for her love of vintage elegance as a model specializing in cheesecake. Her love of feminine finery, particularly of classic seamed stockings and garters soon inspired her to acquire the ultimate lingerie piece….a Victorian corset! Having also admired the look of corsets in the films and photos set in the 1800s, she would have no idea at that time that her desire to tight-lace at age eighteen would lead her to a fetish boutique specializing in this type of exotic apparel. It was during one of her many visits to this fetish shop when she first saw an image of Bettie Page by famed artist Olivia. In 1991, Dita set out to recreate some of Bettie's intriguing images in an effort to bring back nostalgic elegance to the pages of fetish magazines. Since then, Ms. Von Teese has often been compared to Bettie not only for her spirit and for her enduring image, but as the premiere fetish supermodel with countless magazine covers and as one of artist Olivia's favorite art muses. Her career as a glamour model skyrocketed, and it wasn't long before she gained worldwide mainstream press for popularizing retro style and vintage eroticism.
Dita began one of the very first model websites ever created on the internet, and as the first retro styled pinup on the web, her site contains an extraordinary collection of over 10,000 impeccably self-styled photographs. Some of the best in the business have photographed her, including Ellen Von Unwerth, Dewey Nicks, Juergen Teller, P.R Brown, Rankin, Lionel Deluy, Sean McCall, Perou, Christophe Mourthe, Pierre et Gilles and famed artist Gottfried Helnwein. Dita has most recently been seen in major pictorials and on covers for magazines such as Maxim's Blender, GQ, Arena, The Face, Flaunt, The London Sunday Times, Women's Wear Daily, Esquire, Jane, Elle, Harpers & Queen, W, Monte Carlo Style, and Vogue. Known for both her onstage elegance and off, her personal style has gained much attention in the pages of fashion and celebrity magazines.
Dita's career in burlesque began in 1993 as she made a hobby of collecting men's magazines from the 1930s and 40s. In these magazines, there were not only cheesecake photographs of her favorite sex goddesses, but also pages and pages of the burlesque dancers from the era. Dita first began performing her tribute to Sally Rand's feather fan dance at one of the biggest fetish events in the US in 1993, and in 1996, she tipped her hat to striptease icon Lili St Cyr by taking a champagne bath in a crystal-clear glass bathtub. Her unsurpassed showmanship earned her the spotlight as the headlining performer at all three years of Teaseorama, the most highly publicized and attended showcase of the burlesque revival and she has since toured the United States and Europe as a solo performer. In 2002, Dita was singled out with rave reviews from Variety and The Los Angeles Times for her "girl in the glass" solo performances with Carmen Electra's Pussycat Dolls, and the film Charlie's Angels II features a nightclub scene that pays tribute and gives acknowledgment to Dita's trademark act. During a run of performances in Hollywood, Dita caught Hugh Hefner's eye and put her on the cover of Playboy's coveted Holiday Gala issue showing off her astonishing sixteen and half inch corseted wasp-waist and a featuring a fabulously luxurious ten page pictorial of her signature 40's style.
Whether she is lounging on her sparkling crescent moon, riding a brilliant rhinestone-encrusted carousel horse, bathing in a decadent jeweled clawfoot bathtub, or spinning around in a giant filigree sparkling heart, fans of the burlesque resurgence delight at the sophisticated and lavish spectacles that reflect her devotion to details and dedication to the time honored tradition of classic striptease. Dita regularly performs at The Playboy Mansion's special events, and toured the country for their 50th Anniversary tour. She regularly travels worldwide, and has captivated audiences at some of the most exclusive affairs on the planet for clients such as Louis Vuitton, Christian Louboutin, Marc Jacobs, In Style Magazine, Spike TV, Maxim Magazine, MTV, and at the televised New Years Eve and wedding party for The Osbournes. In Fall 2003, she made news with her risqué burlesque performances for the fashion set while draped in priceless jewels for a performance at London fashion week's most exclusive party for Garrard Diamonds, the British Crown Jewelers.
Aside from continuing to make personal appearances worldwide and creating images for her website, Dita spends her free time collecting vintage couture hats, art deco era clothing and rare antique books about the history of burlesque and her favorite stars. She drives a restored original 1939 Chrysler New Yorker and is an accomplished ballet, swing and argentine tango dancer. She spends her time off from traveling to relax at home in Hollywood with her fiancé Marilyn Manson, their two Devonshire Rex cats Lily and Aleister, and two dachshunds Greta and Eva.
